Beijing Heilongtan Natural Scenic Area
The Beijing Heilongtan Natural Scenic Area is located in a canyon in Miyun. This canyon is about 4 kilometers long with a water level drop of approximately 220 meters. The whole scenic area mainly showcases the natural scenery of canyons and pools, having a unique charm.
Scattered within the scenic area are the distinctive Three Waterfalls and Eighteen Pools. These waterfalls and pools each have their own postures. Some cascade down with great momentum, while others are quiet and deep like jasper. From April to October every year is the best period to enjoy them. At this time, the mountains are green and the pools are clear, presenting a beautiful and breathtaking scenery. It is a great place for people to go on weekend outings in the suburbs of Beijing.

In addition, the Heilongtan Ice and Snow Wind Chime Festival held every winter is also quite distinctive. It is one of the key tourist projects recommended by Miyun District in winter. During the event, the scenic area is covered in snow, and ice sculptures and snow sculptures set off against the clear wind chimes, creating a dreamy atmosphere of an ice and snow world, attracting many tourists to come to watch and play.
