Beijing Xishan National Forest Park
Beijing Xishan National Forest Park is located in Xiaoxishan, the western suburbs of Beijing, spanning across Haidian, Shijingshan and Mentougou districts. It is the nearest national forest park to the urban area of Beijing, with a total area of 5,970 hectares.
The park has a very high forest coverage rate. The vegetation is lush and the tree species are rich and diverse, including various arbors such as pine trees, cypress trees and oak trees. The air in the mountain forest is fresh and rich in negative oxygen ions, serving as a natural oxygen bar in the city. The mountains here are undulating and the peaks are continuous. The Guijianchou Peak is about 460 meters above sea level and is the highest point in the park. Standing on the top of the peak, one can overlook the magnificent scenery of the capital city, enjoying both the prosperity of the city and the tranquility of the mountain forest.
The natural landscape in the park is beautiful and the scenery varies in different seasons. In spring, the mountains are full of blooming flowers. Peach blossoms, apricot blossoms, pear blossoms and other flowers are in full bloom all over the mountains and fields, like a poem and a painting. In summer, the trees provide shade and it is a good place to escape the summer heat. The cool mountain breeze blows past, bringing a sense of comfort. In autumn, the forest is dyed in different colors. The maple leaves are like fire and the ginkgo leaves are golden. The colorful leaves make the mountain forest extremely charming. In winter, the mountains are covered with snow. The snow-covered mountain forest is quiet and holy. The branches are covered with ice crystals, like a fairy tale world.
In addition, the park also has rich cultural landscapes and historical relics. There is the Fahai Temple built in the Tang Dynasty. The murals in the temple are extremely beautiful and have a very high artistic value, being a gem of ancient Buddhist art. There are also some ancient mountain climbing paths and ancient architectural ruins, which have witnessed the vicissitudes of time and provide clues for people to explore history. Beijing Xishan National Forest Park combines natural scenery, cultural landscapes and leisure and entertainment, and is an ideal place for citizens and tourists to get close to nature, relax and feel the historical and cultural atmosphere.
