Dongjiaominxiang

Dongjiaominxiang is located in the Dongcheng District of Beijing. It is a hutong with profound historical connotations. In the old days, it was a place for water transport and was originally named Dongjiangminxiang. It starts from the east road of Tiananmen Square in the west and stretches to the inner street of Chongwenmen in the east, with a length of nearly 3 kilometers, making it the longest hutong in old Beijing. During the late Qing Dynasty, it was a gathering place for foreign embassies. There were numerous Western-style buildings standing along the street, and most of them have retained their original appearances. Some of them are now the office locations of state organs. People can come here to appreciate the styles of Western-style buildings and review the modern history. However, there are plainclothes policemen on the street, and photography is prohibited in some areas.
