National Art Museum of China
The National Art Museum of China is a plastic arts museum that focuses on collecting, researching, and exhibiting the works of modern and contemporary Chinese artists. It displays various artworks such as paintings, sculptures, and handicrafts, just like a brilliant art treasure house full of endless artistic charm.
The museum has collected nearly 70,000 pieces of various artworks. Most of them are works created around the founding of the People's Republic of China. However, it also includes masterpieces by artists from the Qing Dynasty and the late Ming Dynasty. For example, there are 410 works by Qi Baishi in the collection. In addition, the works of many famous art masters such as Shi Tao, Xu Gu, Ren Bonian, Wu Changshuo, Huang Binhong, Xu Beihong, Liu Haisu, Fu Baoshi, Pan Tianshou, Li Kezhan, Jiang Zhaohe, and Wu Guanzhong, as well as a large number of representative works by famous Chinese artists and award-winning works in major art exhibitions can all be found here.
The collection categories are extremely rich, covering paintings, sculptures, ceramic art, as well as dozens of categories of folk artworks such as New Year pictures, paper-cuts, toys, shadow puppets, colored sculptures, performance props, puppets, kites, folk paintings, embroideries, etc. Moreover, there are also quite a number of overseas artworks from regions including Europe and Africa, which fully demonstrate its diverse and profound artistic collection heritage.
