National Library of China
The National Library of China is located in Haidian District, Beijing. It is the largest library in China and plays a significant role in the domestic library community. It was once rated as the top of the "Top Ten Buildings in Beijing in the 1980s", attracting much attention.
This library was completed in 1987. Its building area is approximately 140,000 square meters, which is quite impressive in scale. In terms of structural layout, there are 19 floors of book stacks above ground and 3 floors of book stacks underground. The overall book storage capacity is astonishing, capable of storing about 20 million volumes of books. It can be regarded as a vast treasure house of knowledge, carrying countless crystallization of wisdom and providing extremely rich resource reserves for people to acquire knowledge.
There are 46 reading rooms with different characteristics in the library. These reading rooms cover a wide variety of categories and can meet the diverse reading needs of different reader groups. Among them, there are 23 open-shelf reading rooms, and the content involved is rich and diverse. There are daily newspapers, which are convenient for readers to keep abreast of current affairs. There are ancient books carrying a long history and culture, enabling people to travel through time and appreciate the wisdom and thoughts of the ancients. There are also reading rooms for audio and video materials, providing readers with more diversified forms of knowledge acquisition. And there is a reading room for children's books specially set up for children, which helps to cultivate children's reading interests and habits, and so on.
In addition, the National Library of China has also kept up with the pace of the times and actively launched the "Digital Library Mobile Reading Platform". This platform gathers a large number of high-quality and characteristic digital resources, including more than 40,000 e-books and thousands of e-journals. No matter where readers are, as long as they have an Internet connection, they can log in to the platform to read at any time and anywhere with mobile devices, enjoying a convenient and portable reading experience. It truly breaks the limitations of traditional reading in time and space and makes the dissemination and acquisition of knowledge more efficient and flexible.
