Red Brick Art Museum
Compared with other art museums, the Red Brick Art Museum has the most significant difference in terms of architectural composition. It has carefully created a modern garden and ingeniously incorporated the imagery of traditional Chinese gardens. In this way, it not only extends the visiting experience of visitors but also expands the architectural structure, forming a unique dual-extension effect and bringing people a distinctive visiting experience.
Both the architecture and garden design of the art museum were led by Dong Yugan, a professor at the Center for Architecture Research of Peking University. During the construction process, red bricks were chosen as the basic building elements, and a unique concept was adhered to, that is, efforts were made to avoid cutting the bricks during masonry work and to ensure the integrity of each brick as much as possible. Through this approach, a unique architectural language was constructed, and finally, a contemporary art museum that seems to be detached from the hustle and bustle of the world and contains the charm of a different kind of garden was created, exuding a distinctive artistic temperament.
It is especially worth mentioning that the Red Brick Art Museum has unique ingenuity in the control and expression of light and shadow. During different periods of the day, it presents different appearances as time passes. The changes in light and shadow are rich and highly layered, like flowing art paintings. Every visitor in it can deeply feel the wonderful visual experience brought by the interweaving of light and shadow and immerse themselves in this space full of artistic atmosphere.
