The Great Hall of the People
The Great Hall of the People is located on the west side of Tiananmen Square in the center of Beijing and is an important and indispensable part of Tiananmen Square.
The Great Hall of the People as a whole faces east and sits west. It has a grand architectural scale, with a length of 336 meters from north to south, a width of 206 meters from east to west, and a height of 46.5 meters. It covers an area of 150,000 square meters, which is even larger than the total building area of the Forbidden City, showing a magnificent and imposing appearance and really astonishing people.
It has a crucial position. It is a key venue for the Party, the state and various people's organizations to carry out political activities. Meanwhile, it is also an important place for Chinese national leaders and the broad masses of the people to hold political, diplomatic, cultural and many other activities. Here, countless significant historical moments concerning national development, foreign exchanges and cultural dissemination have been witnessed.
Moreover, in normal times, there are often some performance activities held in the Great Hall of the People, such as elegant concerts, which can enable the audience to immerse themselves in the wonderful world of music and feel the edification of art; and wonderful performances of Peking Opera singing and other traditional art forms, showing the unique charm of traditional Chinese culture and attracting many art lovers to come to appreciate and evaluate them.
