Xidan Commercial Street

Xidan Commercial Street is located in Xicheng District, Beijing. Its history can be traced back to the Ming Dynasty. It was an important passage for merchants and travelers from the southwest to enter the capital city. Later, due to factors such as the procurement of government offices, it gradually became prosperous. The establishment of Xidan Shopping Mall in 1929 further enriched its commercial forms. It stretches from Xuanwu Gate in the south to Xinjiekou Huokou in the north, and the core commercial area covers an area of 80 hectares. There are many large shopping malls gathered here, such as Xidan Joy City which integrates multiple functions, Hanguang Department Store with a complete range of brands, the time-honored Xidan Shopping Mall and the distinctive Huaxia Building. It mainly focuses on youth and fashion and is known as "a shopping paradise for young people", which is quite different from the style of Wangfujing. It combines culture and commerce. Xidan Culture Square and the surrounding Cultural Palace of Nationalities, Beijing Concert Hall and so on add cultural charm to it. The transportation here is extremely convenient. It is located at the intersection of Chang'an Avenue and Xidan Avenue. Subway Line 1 and Line 4 have stations here, and there are numerous bus routes. In recent years, continuous environmental renovations have been carried out to constantly improve its image and quality. It is an important and vibrant commercial area in Beijing.
