Yeyahu Wetland Park
The Beijing Yanqing Yeyahu Wetland Nature Reserve is located in the western part of Yanqing. Yeyahu, an artificial wetland, consists of the Yanqing area of the Guanting Reservoir and the shoals and flooded areas below 479 meters above sea level around the reservoir. It is the only wetland bird nature reserve in Beijing. After more than 50 years of development, a wetland ecosystem with rich flora and fauna resources, high biodiversity and stability has been formed, making it one of the important bird habitats in the Beijing area and even in North China.
A wide variety of aquatic, hygrophilous and terrestrial plants are widely distributed in the Yeyahu Wetland. In summer, lotus flowers stand gracefully, reeds are emerald green, golden wild chrysanthemums, light purple Tripolium vulgare, white reed spikes and brown cattail spikes sway in the wind, just like a fairyland on the lake, with a unique charm. Among the plants in Yeyahu, there is Spiranthes sinensis, a second-class protected plant, as well as Utricularia vulgaris, the only aquatic insectivorous plant in North China. Other common plants include reeds, cattails, Cyperus glomeratus and so on.
